Onsite Tours
Visit the Homestead
Come see the world's most advanced off-grid mini homestead system running live — solar, wind, water, food, heating, and more. Howard Lake, Minnesota.
A Real Working Homestead, Not a Demo
This isn't a showroom. Every system you'll see on the tour is the same system that powers, heats, and feeds the Earth Homes LLC property year-round — through Minnesota winters and everything in between. You'll walk away with a clear picture of what full energy and food independence actually looks like in practice.
The Experience
What You'll See
Solar & Wind Energy
Walk through the full hybrid solar and wind system — panel arrays, tilt-down wind turbine, battery banks, inverter, and the monitoring setup that tracks every watt.
Water Independence
See the rainwater collection, storage tanks, and multi-stage filtration system that delivers clean water entirely off-grid, year-round.
Food Production
Tour the raised-bed garden system, season-extension built-in greenhouses, and included root cellar that keep the kitchen stocked through even the harshest Minnesota winters.
Heating Systems
Explore the multi-use wood-burning stove, solar design elements, and backup heating strategies that keep the home warm without grid energy.
Waste & Composting
Learn how the homestead handles waste in a closed-loop system — composting, greywater, and the practices that keep the property truly self-sufficient.
The Business Case
Mel walks you through cost comparisons of conventional construction vs. PWF and post-beam hybrid homes.
