Our Story
Built From the Ground Up.
Earth Homes LLC was born from a simple conviction: that modern, comfortable, truly sustainable living was possible — and that no one had built it yet.
The Problem We Refused to Accept
Off-grid living had a reputation problem. Sacrifice. Compromise. Roughing it. The systems were outdated, the designs were cramped, and the promise of sustainability came at the cost of comfort. We looked at what existed and decided it wasn't good enough.
The System We Built
Earth Homes LLC spent 51 years engineering a mini homestead system from first principles. Solar and wind power working in tandem. Raised-bed gardens designed for maximum yield in minimum space. Woodstove heating that warms every corner. A structure that is spacious, modern, and built to last — all on a compact footprint in Howard Lake, Minnesota.
The Vision We're Sharing
We didn't build this to keep it to ourselves. The book, the tours, the podcast — they're all part of the same mission: to prove that the future of living is off the grid, and to give everyone the knowledge and inspiration to get there.
What We Stand For
Uncompromising Design
Every system is engineered to work together — not bolted on as an afterthought. Modern comfort and radical sustainability are not opposites.
Real-World Proof
This isn't theory. The Earth Homes system is a working, living homestead in Howard Lake, Minnesota. Come see it.
Open Knowledge
We share everything — the book, the tours, the podcast. The more people who build this way, the better the world gets.
Built to Last
Cheap materials and shortcuts have no place here. Every choice is made for durability, efficiency, and long-term performance.
